Am I the only person who actually procrastinates when I arrive somewhere new on my todd? I was actually quite nervous coming to sail in Tarifa for the 1st time... everyone else seemed really good! And quite a few up their own a***, if ya get my drift...

You may or may not remember at the end of last season that I vowed to get new footstraps for the Axxis. I didn¥t. Bugger!

It was the Axxis¥1st sortie of 2003. WOW! Powered up with a 5.4, weaving my way across the chop... the usual ¥crash-waterstart¥turns, but hey, I¥m in Tarifa!!! Woo-hooo!!! And I love my Axxis... goes like stink and is ¥comfortable¥. Point & squirt. After all these other boards I tried in SA, the Axxis still does it for me.

After a few runs the footstraps finally died. Jarring & stubbing my (booted) feet in caused crashes and catapaults galore. From getting 50m upwind I ended up with a walk-of-shame of 100m. I wanted to tell the other 50 or so people on the beach that it wasnt me, it was the straps.... Time to go shopping.

And afterwards I chatted to some germans & belgians who were quite nice, actually...

Almost a 5-star, shame about the straps. ;-)
